Skills Shortages and the Quality Crisis in Vocational Education

Australia’s skills shortage in critical sectors like aged care and construction cannot be solved by significantly increasing enrolments or offering faster, broad-based qualifications.
What we need to do is focus on quality training, evidence-based assessment and better align work-based learning and formal qualifications to restore trust in the Vocational Education system to meet our workforce needs. Learn why faster completion rates of qualifications are not the answer to Australia's skills shortage and what we should prioritise to create a system that values and invests in quality training.
